Principal’s welcome

I welcome you and your family to Wilston State School. I am extremely privileged to be the principal of such a great school. Wilston State School has very capable and talented students, dedicated and passionate staff and a great community who are engaged and committed to our school.

We embrace a culture of feedback for learning and make adjustments and differentiate for all students to ensure they reach their learning potential every term. We have very clearly articulated roles and responsibilities and work together in the Wlston Way.

My job is to continue to build teacher capacity and ensure accountability. To challenge current practice and look at school systems, processes and procedures to ensure constant renewal and improvement of results. To engage with the whole school community and work together toward the best possible results for our students.

Our teachers’ job is to know each student and how they learn. To plan, teach, give feedback to students and parents, assess, report and ensure students are engaged and supported in their learning and reach their potential.

Our student’s job is to learn; be engaged, know what they need to do, seek feedback for themselves and give feedback to others, be organized. To also care for their learning, care for our school, care for our environment and care for others.

Your job as parents is to know and understand our common language and expectations, to build capacity of your child to be independent, resilient and organized, to inform us and provide feedback.

Working together is the Wilston Way
